Lissa Geiger ShulmanLissa is currently the Public Policy Director for the Pittsburgh Associate for the Education of Young Children. In this role Lissa develops policy and advocates for issues surrounding child care, pre-k, home visiting, and early intervention. Previously Lissa worked as the Chief of Staff to a state representative where she worked on policy primarily in the areas of education and disability rights and services. In this position Lissa also had a significant role in planning the first three annual Disability and Mental Health Summits, the region's largest disability services conference. Lissa is a certified teacher, having taught middle school for Pittsburgh Public Schools and Kansas City Public Schools. Lissa currently serves as the Secretary of the Allegheny County Young Democrats and the President of the Stanton Heights Neighborhood Association. Lissa is married and has a 1 year old son who attends a high quality child care program, allowing Lissa and her husband the ability to work and contribute to their community.
