Training: The Emerge Program

The barriers to entry into the political scene can seem pretty darn imposing to the average citizen, but in a state that has never elected its fair share of women, those barriers can look even more foreboding. Emerge Pennsylvania lowers those barriers and levels the playing field by de-mystifying the process of getting engaged, and connecting women to the knowledge and resources needed to win. The track record of the program speaks for itself.

A pivotal moment for me during Emerge Oregon was when I realized everyone in the room cared as much as I do about our fellow Oregonians. We came from all walks of life and all grew together. The sisterhood in Emerge is amazing, some of my best friends were borne from Emerge. The network is powerful and influential. I am honored to be a part of this movement.

Emerge America understands that the path for women candidates always starts with the encouragement of someone they know and respect saying:  you can do this.

My favorite training was “Communicating Your Authentic Self.” This training really forced me to question what my motivations for running are and was a clear reminder of the elements of my leadership that make me uniquely qualified to serve as an elected official. It gave excellent and practical direction around the messaging strategies that will ensure I am presenting myself as my authentic self – and not a cookie-cutter projection of a typical political candidate.
